A-Rod tabs Oseary for guidance
Personal manager will handle ventures outside of baseball

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez may be staying in the Big Apple, but that doesn't mean he can't have a taste of Hollywood.
The Yankees third baseman has latched on with personal manager Guy Oseary to handle his ventures outside of baseball, though he continues to retain Scott Boras -- with whom he is not currently on speaking terms -- as his agent.
Variety reported late Monday that Rodriguez, 32, had signed an agreement with Oseary, who also manages Madonna, Lenny Kravitz and magician David Blaine.
"As I embark on this new chapter in my career, I know that I have found in Guy Oseary someone who is aligned with my interests and who has earned a lot of respect in the entertainment industry," Rodriguez said in a statement.
Oseary, a former record company executive, is also a partner in Untitled Entertainment, whose star clients include Hilary Swank, Penelope Cruz, Naomi Watts and Ashton Kutcher. A-Rod will be Oseary's first baseball client.
"He's focusing on baseball and needs someone whose interests are aligned," Oseary told Variety. "This is to help him have more control of his image and brand."
A spokesperson for the Major League Baseball Players Association confirmed that Rodriguez continues to retain Boras as his agent for baseball-related matters.
However, in an interview aired Sunday, Rodriguez told CBS' "60 Minutes" that he is not currently speaking with Boras, who has represented the three-time All-Star since he was a teenager.
"The whole situation saddens me a little bit," Rodriguez said. "There hasn't been much back-and-forth talking."
The rift resulted after Boras leaked word of Rodriguez's contractual opt-out during Game 4 of the World Series, leaving Rodriguez -- in his words -- "white as a ghost" while watching reports from his Florida home.
Though Rodriguez would reconcile with the Yankees, finalizing a 10-year, $275 million deal earlier this month, Boras was not involved in the negotiations. Rodriguez consulted with Omaha, Neb.-based billionaire Warren Buffett, a personal friend, and leaned upon his wife, Cynthia, during the process.
Oseary said that he does not have immediate plans for A-Rod's foray into the entertainment industry, but said that he will consider all possibilities.
"Obviously, there are a tremendous amount of opportunities for Alex," Oseary said. "It's about him having someone who he respects who can look at endless possibilities. I don't look at any one area -- and these are areas he has not explored."
