Wang fans seven in Yankees' win
Righty allows four Tribe runs; Duncan hits third spring homer
By Bryan Hoch / MLB.com

INDIANS 7, YANKEES 6
at Tampa, Fla.
Sunday, March 16
Indians at the plate: Grady Sizemore had a strong day at the plate, slugging a pair of solo homers and also contributing an RBI single to Cleveland's attack. The Tribe jumped ahead with three runs in the second inning, scoring on Sizemore's single, Asdrubal Cabrera's sacrifice fly to left field and a Franklin Gutierrez fielder's choice. Sizemore teed off on his fourth home run of the spring in the fifth inning, a towering shot into the right-field seats, and he blasted another in the seventh.

Yankees at the plate: Shelley Duncan cracked his third home run of the spring, a two-run shot to dead center field, with nobody out in the second inning. Jose Molina kept up his strong hitting this spring with an RBI double with one out in the fourth. Nick Green capped New York's victory with a two-run single in the Yankees' three-run bottom of the ninth.

Indians on the mound: Both starters had a mixed bag of results in a rematch of Game 1 of the 2007 American League Division Series. For Cleveland, C.C. Sabathia allowed three runs and five hits in four innings. Making his third spring start, the left-hander walked three and struck out three, throwing 74 pitches (48 strikes) and surrendering one home run. Lefty Aaron Fultz threw a scoreless fifth around two hits.

Yankees on the mound: In his fourth start of the spring, right-hander Chien-Ming Wang served up a home run and was hit hard by the Indians, though he did strike out seven. Wang, who lost twice in last year's ALDS, allowed four runs on six hits, walking two in a 75-pitch (53 for strikes) effort. Scott Patterson threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, striking out one. Darrell Rasner gave up Sizemore's second home run, a solo shot to right-center field, as he worked in the seventh.

Up next for the Indians: Left-hander Cliff Lee will start the Indians' St. Patrick's Day game against the Phillies in Clearwater, Fla., on Monday, with his eye still focused on that pot of gold that is the Indians' fifth-starter spot. Lee will make the 1:05 p.m. ET start opposite former teammate Chad Durbin. Masa Kobayashi, Rafael Betancourt, Jorge Julio, Scott Elarton, Matt Ginter and Rich Rundles will also be available to pitch.

Up next for the Yankees: Left-hander Andy Pettitte will get the call for the Yankees on Monday at Legends Field, matching up with the Red Sox for the only Grapefruit League meeting of '08 between the two rivals. Boston will showcase right-hander Bartolo Colon in the effort, bringing only an assortment of star players, with the club's Japan trip looming. Jonathan Albaladejo, LaTroy Hawkins, Heath Phillips, Brian Bruney and Scott Strickland will also be available to pitch.
